Therapy for individuals, couples, and teens

Hi, I’m
Nick van der Sloot

A Registered Provisional Psychologist based out of Calgary, Alberta.

I work with individuals, couples, and teens to resolve trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and many other life experiences. Whether this is the first time you’re seeking out therapy, or if you have done this before, the process can be overwhelming. With that being said, just know that by being here you’ve taken an important step forward in your healing & growth.

My hope is that I can ease that process by sharing a bit about myself on this page so you can decide whether we would be a good fit. I’m glad you’re here and I hope to hear from you soon.

“The good life is a process, not a state of being It is a direction, not a destination.”

- Carl Rogers

A little about me!

The first thing I want you to know about me is that I’m deeply passionate about the work I do. I feel incredibly privileged to be able to sit with individuals and share a space with the emotions, experiences, and struggles that come up in a session. I try to create a calm, safe, and non-judgemental atmosphere so you feel comfortable sharing in a new space. In my office, my goal is to make sure that you feel worthy, seen, and safe with whatever comes up in session.

In session I’ll be working from a rich background in Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-focused Therapy (SFT), Gottman Couples Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills. My work is also grounded in a trauma and attachment-informed lens and other empirically proven methods. In the years that I’ve worked in the counselling field I’ve had the opportunity to help clients explore experiences of anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, trauma, men’s mental health, grief, and family support.
